As Seen in the Exhibit Hall!

Some interesting things spotted in the exhibit hall at the recent ALA Midwinter conference in Seattle:

--Contemporary World Music (new from Alexander Street Press; to include some 50,000 tracks in popular genres, original liner notes, etc.)

--Classical Scores Library (also new from Alexander Street Press; digital scores starting with the Boosey & Hawkes catalog and will contain contemporary music!)

--Playaways (player with pre-loaded audio content)

--Digital audiobooks (especially looking forward to "checking out" the Shrek d-book with sound effects :) )

-- New interfaces for opac information (and how MARC records can be used in an "untraditional" fashion!)

--Probably the coolest thing: a sneak-peek at the the forthcoming Oxford Music Online portal that will provide access to not only Grove Music Online, but adds other resources (some by additional subscription), more audio and visual clips, etc.

and way too much more to describe here...

Looking forward to MLA to follow up on some of these. Ask Mary if questions!
