Watch WorldCat Grow...

See the latest record added to the WorldCat database!

Here's the blurb from the OCLC webpage:

"Every 12 seconds an OCLC member library adds a new record to WorldCat, which contained more than 56 million records representing 939,647,705 holding locations as of October 9, 2004. Every 4 seconds an OCLC member library fills an interlibrary loan request using WorldCat, which has supported 139,300,816 interlibrary loan requests as of October 9, 2004. A library user searches WorldCat using the OCLC FirstSearch service every second."

Back from OLAC!

Mary and Stacie have returned from the 11th Biennial Online Audiovisual Catalogers, Inc. Conference held this past weekend in Montreal. Kristi, Mary and Stacie had a poster presentation accepted for the conference. The title of the poster was: "Beyond Books: Blogs at the University of Minnesota." The poster focused on the two specialized blogs created for special formats and music materials. We received many compliments on the poster--many thanks to the Map Library for printing and laminating it for us!

VocalEssence Concert, October 10

Come hear Bill sing in an upcoming concert!

He sings with The VocalEssence Ensemble singers, a classical-choral group directed by Philip Brunelle. There is a concert Sunday October 10th at 4:00 at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.

It should be a very interesting program. VocalEssence will be joining the
St. Olaf Choir (from Northfield), and will be performing two large
works- The Peaceable Kingdom by Randall Thompson, and Mass for double choir by Frank Martin. To complement these two works, the Ensemble singers will be premiering a new piece of music called "Another Spring" by Tom Nazziola, and the St. Olaf Choir will be doing a set of songs also.

Tickets may be purchased directly from the Orchestra Hall Box Office. Call
612-371-5656 or 1-800-292-4141 or order online. The online Box Office
includes a detailed seating chart.
