New 047 codes!

Additions to the MARC Code Lists for Relators, Sources, Description
Conventions
Good news! After Sept. 25, 2008 the expanded forms of composition codes (referred to as the "IAML list") will be available for use in the 008 and 047 fields. Subfield 2 has been created to note the source of the code.
Here's the blurb from the Technical Notice:
Other codes
The following code is for use in subfield $2 in field 047 (Form of Musical
Composition Code) in the Bibliographic format.

New MARC Language Codes
Note that materials with no linguistic content (e.g., instrumental music) will now be coded zxx instead of 3 blanks in the 008 field! I've pasted the original MARC technical notice below.

Additions to MARC Code List for Languages
Network Development and MARC Standards Office Library of Congress
The following codes have been approved for use in the international language code standard, ISO 639-2 (Codes for the Representation of Names of Languages--Part 2: alpha-3 code) and are also being added to the MARC
Code List for Languages.

LC Implementation Plans
Subscribers can anticipate receiving MARC records reflecting these changes

New Relator Codes

Additions to the MARC Code Lists for Relators, Sources, Description
Conventions
Network Development and MARC Standards Office
Library of Congress
The relator codes listed below have recently been approved for use in MARC
21 records. The new codes will be added to the online MARC Codes Lists for
Relators, Sources, Description Conventions. The codes should not be used
until after September 27, 2004.
MARC Relator Codes Additions:
cng- Cinematographer [use only after September 27, 2004]
vdg - Videographer [use only after September 27, 2004]
