Brava Kristi!!

Brava, Kristi!! What a wonderful hour of music! (Kristi gave her recital yesterday) On the program were songs by Franz Schubert, Pietro Cimara, and Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Maurice Ravel's "Kaddisch" from Deux melodies hebraiques. The Cimara songs were particularly lovely, and previously unknown to me (so now I have another "project" :) )

Well done!

Sad news

From today's Monday Memo:

Marian Kienholz, a long-time Libraries staff member who retired in 1991, passed away earlier this summer and a notice appeared recently in the Star Tribune:

Marian was the former music cataloger here at the U. I remember meeting Marian at one of the very first Midwest Chapter (Music Library Association) meetings that I attended. I'll be sure to pass this news on at the Chapter business meeting next week. My sympathies to her remaining family and friends...

Greetings from Memphis!

There have been many interesting sessions so far. The music digitization workshop was great! Today I'll be attending the Aleph Music Users Group, my subcommittee meeting, and a session on musical form/genre headings. Tomorrow it's "Cataloging Day" with the RDA update, and other cataloging-related sessions.

See you on Monday!!

Back from OLAC!

Mary and Stacie have returned from the 11th Biennial Online Audiovisual Catalogers, Inc. Conference held this past weekend in Montreal. Kristi, Mary and Stacie had a poster presentation accepted for the conference. The title of the poster was: "Beyond Books: Blogs at the University of Minnesota." The poster focused on the two specialized blogs created for special formats and music materials. We received many compliments on the poster--many thanks to the Map Library for printing and laminating it for us!
