Project Scope

Add genre/form headings retrospectively to those bibliographical records that were created for the East Asian Library Film (EASF) collection before the Technical Services Department decided to adopt the Library of Congress practice in June 2008. By adding genre/form headings, the EASF project will enhance users' experience and increase the usability of the library catalog.

The Walter SMART Learning Commons Project has officially been declared finished!

Since the project's start in June 2008, form/genre headings have been added to over 6500 records.

Most of these headings had a corresponding film heading, so the video heading will be canceled in favor of the film heading. There are also plans for other types of headings like "mini-series" and internet video/webisode/podcasts.

Woo-hoo!! We've passed the 5,000 record mark this month. Our cumulative total stands at 5,060. Way to go!

Another milestone: I've given out all of the records in the project list! In the next couple months, I may be asking some of you for records that could be shifted to someone who has time to work on the project. We'll have to see how this goes. Our revised project deadline is the end of December, so if you can devote any more time to the project, that would be great!
