Who is in charge of making your decisions, your consciousness or your unconscious brain?

Based on the video posted on the psychology website, called The Secret You, we see that a man did a test to see what really was making the decisions about what he would do. He went into a machine to read his brain activity and was told to randomly press either the left or the right button when they were ready. When making his decision, they could see brain activity 6 seconds before he actually pushed the button. This is showing that his brain is making the decisions before he consciously pushes the button. But your brain is in line with what you desire, so it isn't necessarily going to make you do something that you don't want to do. But in the video, they said "your consciousness is your brain activity and that is what is leading your life." So essentially you can see what someone is going to do six second before that person actually becomes aware of what they are going to do by looking at their brain activity. I found this video to be very interesting and shocking. It is hard to believe that they can see your brain activity and know what decision you are going to make before you even realize it yourself. I found this video to be very interesting and would recommend it to everyone.

Good post. It's cool that there is a specific interval (6 seconds) in which our brain activity is brought into light of our awareness. Because neural messages pass so quickly between each other, in a couple of seconds the sensation we get from hurting our toe signals our brain to react. Maybe we can define consciousness only when we can track how a pulse moves throughout the body and what the purpose of this is in the realm of awareness.
Can brain imagers track an electrical impulse throughout the body to see where it ends?
Knowing that something happens in 6 seconds that changes our awareness so drastically is amazing and really exciting.

I found this interesting, but I can't say that I agree or believe it. Yes, you may be able to see the brain activity before actually seeing the product of that activity, but couldn't that just be our brain just thinking ahead and preparing for future events?
I mean I guess what I said could be completely agreeing with what the article says, but I don't. I mean the only reason they could tell which button he would pick was because they could watch the signals, without those they would have no real clue.

The video is really cool! The result of it shocks me, either. I can't believe that our brain has do the choice for us. But, when I think for a while, I believe it is true. For example, when we make desicion, it is our feeling that lead us make choice mostly. I think the feeling comes from our brain. Based on the genitic, we have a site of preference. Our brain will work under theses.

This post was really interesting to read. I thought it was interesting when you said our conscious is what lead us to our decisions and how we lead our life. I guess it is reasonable that our brains actually make the decisions 6 seconds before we do something because sometimes we know what to do, but we take some time to confirm it. I guess that is apart of our conscious that is so cool.
