Trauma, Faith, & Healing in the Community: Conversations with South Africa's Tutu Sisters
Tuesday, April 23, 6 p.m. and Wednesday, April 24, 2 p.m.
Two very special events featuring the distinguished daughters of South African social rights activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu: Reverend Mpho Tutu; race and gender activist Naomi Tutu; and researcher Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe.
"Trauma, Faith and Healing in the Community: Conversations with South Africa's Tutu Sisters" will examine the role faith, consensus-building, and reconciliation play in healing a community spirit that's been wounded by violence, natural disaster or catastrophe. The events will feature a moderated panel format, followed by an informal public question-and-answer period and public reception.
Two locations, two dates:
6 p.m., April 23, Shiloh Temple International Ministries in North Minneapolis
2 p.m., April 24, Coffman Memorial Union on the University's Minneapolis campus.
Both conversations are free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested. Register online at z.umn.edu/tutuapril23 for the April 23 event; z.umn.edu/tutuapril24 for the April 24 event.
