About the Speaker
Donna R. Gabaccia is Director of the Immigration History Research Center and Rudolph J. Vecoli Chair in Immigration History at the University of Minnesota. She directs the Center's research in immigration, ethnicity and migration studies. As Vecoli Chair, Dr. Gabaccia ensures that the Center consistently mentors graduate students and engages leading scholars in the study of immigration and immigrant experiences through her teaching, the Center's research activity, and public engagement based on the IHRC's mission to preserve and create access to materials documenting immigrant life. She is author or co-author of many books on U.S. immigration and migration studies, and her current book projects are Foreign Relations: An International History of U.S. Immigration and Imagining Nations of Immigrants.
