The Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans will be organizing an immigration roundtable focusing on the South Asian community on Wednesday November 9 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Location: Washington County Library, R. H. Stafford Branch (Woodbury). Event is free and open to the public but space is limited. Goals and purpose of the Roundtable
1. Build awareness and educate about the impacts of immigration
2. Hear South Asian American community members' thoughts and concerns on immigration issues
3. Discover ways to empower the local community to build a network for advocacy and resources sharing
4. Identify tangible tasks the Council can work on behalf of the community
5. Solicit information and concerns that can be used in a policy brief advising the legislature to improve the conditions of immigrants in the state
6. Allow the Council staff to better understand the needs and concerns of the South Asian community
