December 18 "International Migrants Day"

To call attention to the lives of people now living outside their birth countries (today numbering close to 200 million), the U.N. in 2000 proclaimed December 18 to be "International Migrants Day." On that day, in 1990, the U.N. General Assembly passed an International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
