The IHRC welcomes Jan Rath, director of the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies at the University of Amsterdam, for a cluster of lectures and special meetings March 22-23. We also bid farewell to Juri Estam, a visiting scholar who presented a talk at the Center on March 17.
Jan Rath will offer a public lecture for the Global Race, Ethnicity and Migration Seminar series at noon on Tuesday, March 23. The presentation is titled "Ethnic Neighborhoods as Places of Leisure and Consumption" and will be held in Room 120, Elmer L. Andersen Library. Juri Estam presented insights from his research in the IHRC's Estonian Archives in the United States Records at a Research-in-Progress Talk on Wednesday, March 17. Estam is a writer and media consultant based in Estonia, and he is preparing histories of the Estonian World Council and the Estonian American National Council.
He also consulted with Kristel Tammik and Margit Laanemets of the National Archives of Estonia, who are visiting the IHRC in March as they conduct research into the EAU Records of organizations in the Estonian diaspora.
