Study at the U is FUN?

Do you like studying?

I do not know so many people who say "YES!" even hard-working post graduate students.

...Me?

I say yes. I say no.

Studying abroad is not so easy. I have an exam tomorrow (Nooooo!!) and paper due next week... Being honest, I sometimes feel I'm sick of study.

Maybe it depends on the program and professor, but the style of exam is different from usual exams in Japan. For example, essay test and oral test are common in American universities.

It sound hard, doesn't it?

So, here is the reason I don't like studying. "Sometimes it's too hard!" However, it has value. When I notice that I improved my knowledge, skills, and critical thinking, I feel my efforts paid off, and then I feel, "I love study!!!"

OK, then, let me introduce some good places to study on campus.

1. Libraries
The biggest two libraries are Wilson Library and Walter Library. These are neat and quiet places, and they have private rooms and computer lab too. There are countless libraries from different colleges besides them.

2. Coffee Shops
My favorite is Starbusks on East Bank and Mapps Coffee on West Bank. You'll see me very often there.

3. Coffman Memorial Union
Coffman is a student center that is located in the center of East Bank. Because it has dining hall, coffee shops, and CVSs, we can easily get some energy to study when we get tired. I like studying there after 6pm because it's quiet.

4. Moos Tower
Moos Tower is connected to Medical School and its hospital. Moos is open 24 hours 7 days. It has some spaces that are good for group study, and its lab is super quiet!

Lastly, I recommend you to have some study friends. Although I prefer to study alone usually, my study friends helped me a lot when I was not enough motivated.
Here is the picture with Ryan at a study room in my dorm, Yudof Hall.

I think the University of Minnesota is one of the best places to study from the bottom of my heart. The places I introduced are just a part of our campus. I hope (and quite sure) that you find your own learning place and style, and lean a lot!

Well, today I'll end this blog up with my favorite phrase instead of bye-bye.

"See ya friends! Study hard!"

Kyoko :)

I think UMN is the best school, too.
Besides, I also agree that the University of Minnesota is one of the best places to study and experience the REAL USA cultures.
Thanks for sharing to your opinion. :)

Thanks for your comment and agreement!
Hope we can study and enjoy a lot :]

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

You actually make it seem very easy together with your presentation but I find this topic to become actually a thing that I believe I would never understand.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

Nice read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch as I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
