First of all, Congratulations! Welcome to U of M!
For the job opportunities, I am not quite sure whether you are asking about the working experience in college or the future career.
I f you would like to work to enrich your college experience, you can go to the UM website of job center, http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/employment/student/find.html
there is a whole list of job opportunites for students. You can't be disappointed!
I f you are concerned about the career prospect, you can turn to the academic advisor for help. (you'll meet your academic advisor on your orientation) As far as I know, there are several job fairs held in U every semester, including many 500 Fortune companies! Isn't it amazing!
Again,Welcome of UMN!

First of all welcome to University of Minnesota. As far as what I understand, you are talking about the jobs once you graduate. Well it depends on a lot of factors like your major or whether it is honors major or just a regular one. But in general it requires international students a bit more effort than the American students to get to the opportunity and even more effort to avail it. It is not university specific but a generalized U.S concept pertaining to international students. But the effort definitely pays back and there is always a job for you if you are good at what you do, that is maintain a good GPA around 3.5, and get involved in other degree related on-campus activities that show a company your interest and enthusiasm towards your major. Apart from that, economy plays a major role as well and when the economy is in a recession, like nowadays, then it is definitely hard to get a job. But like I said that if a company thinks you are valuable it will definitely hire you.
I hope that helps.
