A web-based enterprise alternative to conducting business
via paper forms, Workflow Processing (WorkflowGen), now is available to the University of Minnesota. WorkflowGen is an environment that enables units to
- quickly generate web-based forms with defined business-process pathways; and
- monitor the progress of submitted forms
Advantages
An online-authenticated form provides easy, convenient data entry, and automates routing for processing and approval. Customer notification of next steps and/or approval is automated. The result is:
- reduced intimidation and confusion about the process and increased customer satisfaction
- reduced customer and staff time spent manually entering data and improved tracking and accountability
Requirements
Creating a simple workflow process with WorkflowGen's form designer will require a staff member with business analyst skills and WorkflowGen training. More complex processes with database integration and/or using custom forms (not created with the form designer) will require the business analyst to work with someone with junior developer (C# programming) skills.
Access
U of M authentication is required to interact with WorkflowGen web-forms and related processes. Those not affiliated with the University would need to have guest accounts set up before using WorkflowGen forms.
