"Planning for Medical School" Workshop

March 24, 2008

The Health Careers Center is pleased to announce a new online workshop Planning for Medical School, now being offered to UMTC students.

Students can use this online workshop in different ways, depending on where they are in the process of applying to medical school: whether they are at the initial stages of exploration, in the process of completing prerequisites, or planning to apply to medical school in the next year. This workshop is offered in WebVista and can be completed by students individually and at their own pace. Students can register at any time.

WORKSHOP CONTENT

Developed by the Health Careers Center and the University of Minnesota Medical School, this workshop gives useful information on the career of medicine and the experience of being in medical school. The workshop includes video interviews with Medical School faculty, clinical researchers, students, and other members of the health care team, who will provide insight on the qualities of successful physicians. They also offer advice for mastering all parts of the admissions process, such as personal statements, interviewing, the MCAT, gaining experience, academic planning, and the AMCAS.

After completing the workshop, students are eligible to receive additional consultation on their Action Plan from the Health Careers Center or the Career Center for Science and Engineering.

To Register: visit http://www.healthcareers.umn.edu/ and click on "Workshops and Info Sessions" in the left-hand navigation. (You must be a current UMTC student to register. There is no charge.)
