Career Fair Tip of the Week - Researching Open Positions

August 11, 2011

Have you started researching employers attending the career fair this fall? Now go a step further and start researching open positions!

Many of the employers have already posted open positions they intend to recruit for at the career fair. These positions are indicated in GoldPASS with a special orange icon next to their Job ID. By clicking on this icon you can view the career events linked to the position.

View the list of employers attending by visiting here, click on "Employers Attending" on the top left, then click the "Search" button. When you visit an employer's profile, it will display job openings under the recruiter information. If you find positions that interest you, prepare a separate resume and cover letter for this position, apply for the position in advance, and use the career fair as a first chance to meet the employer and try and land an interview.

Stay tuned for more career fair preparation tips in the following weeks, and stop into our resource library in 390 Shepherd labs for more resources on preparing for the fair.

Career Fair Tip of the Week - Employers Recruiting Secrets

August 2, 2011

Getting into gear for the Science and Engineering Career Fair? Here's another tip!

Recruiters attending the career fair this Fall have divulged to us a bit of their recruiting strategy. Leading up to the fair, some employers will begin to search for qualified students in GoldPASS and look at their resumes. Take this opportunity to update your GoldPASS profile so it reflects your up-to-date qualifications. Also upload your most recent resume and automatically receive feedback from one of our career counselors. If you would like to be included in employer searches, make sure you've selected "yes" to "allow employer viewing."

If you have any questions about GoldPASS, check out the GoldPASS user's guide by clicking "Resource Library" on your GoldPASS homepage.
