Celebrate with other students in the Institute of Technology and engineers around the world during IT Week/Engineers Week Feb. 17-23. A wide variety of fun and exciting activities are planned.
Sunday, Feb. 17:
Science Quiz Bowl
The Science Quiz Bowl kicks off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17 in Walter Library with 34 participating teams. Games continue Sunday afternoon (and possibly Monday evening February 18) as needed. The final round is 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19 in Room 101, Walter Library. Spectators are welcome. This friendly competition is hosted by the Mathematics and Science & Engineering Libraries. Golden Calculator Scavenger Hunt
Search campus for the coveted Golden Calculator to win gift certificates to the U of M Bookstore. Clues are posted daily at 8 a.m. on the Plumb Bob display case located on the first floor of Lind Hall. This event is hosted by the Institute of Technology Student Board (ITSB). Guess the Mass of Nerds contest
In this amusing contest, IT students can guess the weight of a large container of Nerds candy to win prizes. To make your guess, visit the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Office, 25A Lind Hall. The candy container also will be available at many events throughout IT Week. This event is sponsored by SWE. For more information, send an e-mail to swe@umn.edu.
IT King and Queen Competition
IT King and Queen candidates will be raising money for charity throughout the week. For more information about the candidates, visit the Plumb Bob Web site.
T-shirt sales
IT Week T-shirts will be sold for $5 at various events throughout the week. The T-shirts feature this year's IT Week theme "IT's My Life" featuring Bon Goldi.
Monday, Feb. 18:
Coffee Kick-off
Kick-off IT Week with a cup of free coffee beginning at 9 a.m. until supplies last in the Lind Hall courtyard. The event is sponsored by Plumb Bob.
IT Night at Goldy's Game Room
Enjoy a fun night out at IT Night from 6-8 p.m. at Goldy's Game Room in Coffman Memorial Union. The event for all IT students is hosted by the Society of Women Engineers. For more information, contact Amanda Fose at swe@umn.edu.
Tuesday, Feb. 19:
High Tech Girls Society event
About 20 high school girls from the High Tech Girls Society will visit campus and explore careers in engineering and science throughout the morning. The event features fun demonstrations and a luncheon. This event is hosted by IT Student Services outreach programs. For more information, contact Richard Pollard at polla007@umn.edu.

The final round of the Science Quiz Bowl is 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 in Room 101, Walter Library. Spectators are welcome.
Poker Night
Join other IT students for a friendly game of poker beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Office, 1121 A&B Mechanical Engineering Building. Free food and prizes. The event is hosted by ASME. For more information, send an e-mail to asme@tc.umn.edu.
Wednesday, Feb. 20:
Freshman/Sophomore IT Open House
This special event for freshman and sophomore students will feature departmental displays, information about student organizations and much more. Students can visit the open house from 9 a.m.-noon in the atrium of the Electrical Engineering/Computer Science Building. Lunch is provided beginning at noon. Kaplan Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Practice Session
Join other IT students for a Kaplan Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Practice Session from 4-5 p.m. in Room 101, Walter Library. IT Awards and Recognition Banquet
This special event recognizes outstanding Institute of Technology faculty and teaching assistants as well as student organizations and their advisors. This invitation-only event is 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Campus Club, Coffman Memorial Union.
Thursday, Feb. 21:
IT Academic Advising Open House
IT freshmen and sophomores are invited to the IT Academic Advising Center Open House to meet their advisors and tour the new Academic Advising Center in 130 Lind Hall. Breakfast will be served 7:30-10 a.m. near 128 and 130 Lind Hall.
Guitar Hero
Show off your Guitar Hero game skills at this event from 7-10 p.m. at Triangle's Fraternity, 521 12th Ave. SE. in Dinkytown. This event is sponsored by the Triangle fraternity for engineers, scientists and architects. For more information, e-mail lodyg001@umn.edu.

Star Wars Movie Night

LAN Gaming Night

Saturday, Feb. 23:
IT Ball
Dance the night away at this semi-formal IT Week finale event from 9 p.m.-midnight at the Radisson University Hotel, 615 Washington Ave., S.E., Minneapolis. The event is hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The coronation of the IT King and Queen is at 10:30 p.m. The event features a DJ and free snacks and beverages. Tickets are $5 per person and are available at the SWE Office, 25A Lind Hall or at the door. For more information, send an e-mail to swe@umn.edu.
