SME student group hosts lunch talk about mining on Friday, Nov. 22

Learn about the importance of mining!

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) is hosting a presentation on mining by retired University of Minnesota professor Kenneth Reid.

About the speaker:
Professor Reid received his Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1959 and began his career in minerals in government research in Australia. He worked for six years in industry on the Zambian Copperbelt before joining the University of Minnesota in 1977. He retired in 2000 but is active as a consultant in the mineral industry and as a member of the Board of Directors of the SME Twin Cities Subsection.

SME is a professional society that promotes interest in mining, metallurgy, and exploration within the University community.
