Monday, Dec. 30 is the deadline to apply for spring semester admission to your major

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for spring semester admission into the major. In order to be eligible to apply, you must have completed or currently be enrolled in the required courses for your chosen major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore level courses. Application deadline is Monday, Dec. 30.

Important information for students currently on academic probation

If you are currently on academic probation, the CSE Office of Academic Advising will review your fall semester grades once they are posted. If you do not meet the terms of your probationary period, you will be notified via email by Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, that you will be suspended and will be dropped from any future classes for which you are registered.

No drop-in academic advising during winter break

The College of Science and Engineering Office of Academic Advising and University Honors Program Advising will not hold drop-in hours over winter break. If you need to meet with an advisor, please call 612-624-2890 or stop into Lind Hall, Suite 105 to schedule an appointment. Drop-in advising will resume at the start of spring semester on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.

If you haven't seen it yet, don't miss the CSE Winter Light Show finale performances on Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14 with shows at 5:30, 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. on the Civil Engineering Building Plaza. The dazzling light show designed by students from Tesla Works features more than 100,000 LED lights.

The last day to use your One-Time-Only (OTO) Late Withdrawal to withdraw from a course this semester is Wednesday, Dec. 11 and before you have taken the final exam. To use your OTO you must meet with an academic advisor during drop-in advising hours in Lind Hall, Suite 105. International students may need to take additional steps.

More than 200 homemade robots designed by CSE students in the Introduction to Engineering class will be on display at the University of Minnesota Robot Show, Monday, Dec. 9, 2:40-4:30 p.m., McNamara Alumni Center. The walk-through show is the largest collection of robots assembled in one place in the Twin Cities. The event is free and open to the public.
