Apply by Saturday, May 25 for fall semester admission to your major

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major until the Saturday, May 25 deadline. In order to be eligible to apply, you must have completed or currently be enrolled in the required courses for your chosen major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore level courses. If you are eligible, please apply immediately!

Follow students around the world on their CSE Global Seminars

Even if you're staying close to home, you can travel around the world in May and June by following the blogs of College of Science and Engineering students. The students will be blogging about their travel and learning experiences during their May Session CSE Global Seminars to Switzerland, Scandinavia, China, and the Middle East.

Apply this summer for $1,000 scholarship from Critical Systems, Inc.

Critical Systems, Inc. (CSI) offers $1,000 scholarships to third- and fourth-year science and engineering students pursuing a career in semiconductor and related specialty areas such as nanotechnology, MEMS, solar PV, thin film, or other advance technologies. The application submission period is June 15-July 30.

Mark your calendar now! Science and Engineering Fall Career Fair is Tuesday, Sept. 17

Get your resume ready and plan to attend the Science and Engineering Career Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 17, Mariucci Arena. More than 100 companies and organizations are expected to attend the fair as they search for new employees and interns.

Applications now being accepted for new CSE Global Seminar to Tanzania during Winter Break

The new field-based design seminar in Tanzania planned for January 2014 with CSE Professor Paul Strykowski is now accepting applications. Students will travel during winter break Jan. 2-19, 2014. Interested students are encouraged to submit an application now.

Walter Library open 24 hours a day during finals

Select library locations will have extended hours during finals. Walter Library is open 24 hours a day until 6 p.m., Saturday, May 18. The library has study space, copy machines, and more. The Libraries are also hosting study breaks with games and giveaways!

Navy offers special nuclear engineering program for current students

The U.S. Navy offers a special nuclear engineering program for students who are sophomores or above studying engineering, math, physics, or chemistry. Students receive up to $5,500 per month for up to 30 months while finishing a bachelor's degree at their university, as well as free medical and dental coverage. Students also receive a $15,000 signing bonus upon acceptance into the program. Starting salary is $60,000 in the first year.

Academic Advising offers drop-in hours until May 17

CSE Academic Advising drop-in advising hours are 2-4 p.m., Monday-Friday (until Friday, May 17). Extended drop-in advising hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, May 10. University Honors Program drop-in hours are 2-3 p.m., Monday-Friday (until Friday, May 17). Extended drop-in honors advising hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, May 10. There will be no CSE Academic Advising or University Honors Program drop-in advising over the summer.

Important information for students currently on academic probation

If you are currently on academic probation, the CSE Office of Academic Advising will review your spring semester grades once they are posted. If you do not meet the terms of your probationary period, you will be notified via email by Friday, May 24, 2013, that you will be suspended and will be dropped from any future classes for which you are registered.
