To Hell and back, and then home

On our flight leaving Bergen, a bird hit an instrument on the plane and we had to wait for a new plane. We spent several hours in a town called Hell (really, that's the name). After an unplanned night in Iceland, we finally made it back to Minnesota.

Back to Bergen

Today we toured some older hydroelectric plants. A lot of the turbines were made in the early 20th century, and as a result, these plants were smaller and less efficient than the ones yesterday.

Today was our last day at Agder University. We attended a few short lectures to hear from professors at the university. After our visit, we started our journey to Bergen!

Flumill visit

Today we visited Flumill, a company that has recently invested a lot of money in harnessing tidal energy. The presentation was really cool, and I thought that the company had a lot of entrepreneurial spirit.

Today we left Sondervig. We saw some of Jutland's sand dunes on the west coast before visiting the Nordic Center for Natural Resources, an educational center interested in doing research and learning about a variety of renewable resources.

Greetings from Iceland! After a six-hour flight, we arrived at Keflavik international airport in Reykjavik. We hit the ground running and made the most of our first day by touring the Svartsengi geothermal power plant, relaxing in the blue lagoon, and hiking through breathtaking landscapes.
