Minnesota State Fair Exhibit

The University of Minnesota’s Solar Decathlon Team will present its work towards the design, engineering and construction of a fully functioning, sun-powered house. One of twenty international teams invited by the Department of Energy to compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon in Washington DC, the University’s entry “Icon Solar House� is a collaborative effort between students, faculty, staff and industry partners.

While integrating solar power with innovative architectural and interior design, the house will also accommodate Minnesota’s climate extremes and be potentially marketable. Images and plans of the house will be on display, and students will explain various aspects of the project.
