ebrary - New ebooks Database

ebrary Academic Complete - Academic Complete is an e-book collection with more than 43,900 titles from a wide variety of publishers including many University Press titles, and titles from Wiley, Kaplan, Kluwer, Random House, Springer, Taylor & Francis, and McGraw-Hill.

Access the database at: http://site.ebrary.com/lib/umcrookston/home.action

It has an easy-to-use interface with simple searching and tools including personal bookshelves, automatic citations, highlighting and annotating. Unlimited simultaneous users so there are no turnaways.

Searching is Google like. The result list has additional subjects which can be used to further limit the set. This actually works well. The subjects in each book are displayed in the results list.

You can view the results in two different formats. One is called quick view and displays the first page and a table of contents adjacent to it. You can use this format to move quickly through the book and examine the content. The second way to view is the ebrary viewer which is a java base reader. This must be installed once on your computer. This reader works like reading a book page by page. Its advantage is that you can print portions of the book, you can annotate the book by highlighting and making notes.

This requires an account to preserve the annotations. See Quick Start Guide -http://www.ebrary.com/corp/collateral/en/Quick_Guides/Quick_Guide.pdf
