New 40 Day Practice
It has been a couple of months since I have maintained this blog. In that time I have continued working out, just not writing. I have been consistent in two days a week of my Jujutsu practice plus a third day assisting in the kids' classes.
Yoga & Lifting
These have fallen by the wayside a bit because of the warm weather. I have been doing long walks with the wife, windsurfing or paddling, playing soccer with the kids, etc. instead. I've managed to lift about once a week just to maintain. When September rolls around and the kids go back to school and the weather turns, I'll be back to more consistent lifting and yoga.
Jujutsu
I have been training hard. I will be testing soon for my next rank. I also was able to attend a one day clinic in July that was a lot of fun. My new 40 day practice is to do Jujutsu related work every day. Today I will be working on my notebook to update it with new techniques necessary for my rank exam. I am currently a Sankyu (third brown) and will be testing for Nikyu (second brown). In mid-september we will have a three day camp with lots of people from out of town including 10 brown belts. The theme will be Shodan preparation for this cohort of brown belts. I want to be well tuned for that as well.
This summer I have really polished my Oku list and have worked out all of the bugs from a 12+ year absence. I have also weathered a knee injury and am back to about 95%.
