Changes To Google Scholar

If you've accessed Google Scholar in the past few days you may have noticed some changes.

New Google Scholar.jpg

For those of you new to Google Scholar--it's a Google search engine that allows you to search for scholarly material. And they've now added the ability to include patents in the search results in Google Scholar.

Google also has a search engine that searches only patents and patent applications at Google Patents.

To learn more about the changes you might want to read this blog post.

If you're interested in learning more about some of Google's uses for research check out the new online version of the Walter Library Workshop: Google for Researchers. (Note: The workshop is still in beta--if you have any feedback feel free to send me an email or leave a comment below.)

And don't forget when using Google Scholar to link it to the University of Minnesota's rich online journal collection.
