92-year-old Floridian fires on neighbor after rejection

A 92-year-old woman fired a pistol at her neighbor after he refused a kiss March 23, according to the New York Daily News.

MSNBC reported that after arguing with her 53-year-old neighbor, Dwight Bettner, Helen Staudinger of St. Petersburg, Fla. retrieved her semi-automatic and fired four shots into his house.

The New York Daily News reported that Bettner, who was on the phone when a bullet shattered a window, did chores like taking out the trash for his elderly neighbor.

Staudinger was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into a dwelling the day after, MSNBC said. Her court date is set for Tuesday.

Over 300 participated in a "kiss-in" protest took at a London bar Friday after two gay men claim they were thrown out for kissing, according to the Guardian.

Jonathan Williams and James Bull shared a kiss on their first date at the John Snow Bar in Soho and were asked to leave soon after, reported MSNBC.

When the incident was tweeted, a Facebook event proposed a "kiss-in" at 7 p.m. on Friday, reported the Guardian.

Despite the bar's closure at 3:30 p.m., perhaps in anticipation of the incident, a crowd of gay men still protested outside with beers, said MSNBC.

Fan texted he was "scared" before assault

A 42-year-old Giants fan texted a family member fearing for safety minutes before he was beaten at Dodger Stadium Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

John Stow told MSNBC his cousin Bryan Stow, a paramedic and father of two, sent him a message which said he was "scared inside the stadium."

Stow, who was assaulted as he walked out of the stadium in search of a cab, suffered a severely fractured skull and damage to the brain's frontal lobe, reported the Los Angeles Times.

The reward for information now totals $100,000, including $50,000 offered Tuesday by the Los Angeles City Council.

Exclusive college sites for casual sex expands

A new website targeted to "hookup" college students for casual sex expanded to include three universities, according to MSNBC.

The site, eduHookups, was created in February by a student at the University of Chicago, and has since grown to include Northwestern University and Columbia College Chicago, reported the Daily Northwestern.

Eligible students, who must register with their official school email address, can post anonymously in sections for "platonic" or "serious," in addition to listings for "casual" no-strings-attached hookups, said MSNBC.

The Daily Northwestern reported that with over 900 members, the site is looking to explore to Washington University in St. Louis, Yale and Brown Universities.

A 9-year-old Georgia girl almost died when she shoved her younger sister out of the way and took the hit from an oncoming pick-up truck last month, according to the Huffington Post.

Anaiah Tucker, of Madison, Ga., suffered a damaged spleen, lost a kidney, broke her neck and both legs, resulting in the amputation of her left one, when the truck hit, according to MSNBC.

Tucker pushed sister Camry, 5, aside when she saw the truck approaching as they crossed the street to catch the school bus, reported the Huffington Post.

The school bus driver, who arrived moments later, performed CPR on Anaiah, said MSNBC.

Their mother, Andrea Taylor, told MSNBC that the community has been helping pay for Anaiah's medical bills because she is unemployed.

The Huffington Post reported that the driver of the truck faced no charges.

The University of Minnesota mascot was punched at a Saturday athletic event by a professor at a nearby college, resulting a citation for disorderly connect and a year-long ban from the premises according to the Minnesota Daily.

Douglas Dokken, 60, a math professor at St. Thomas, punched Goldy Gopher twice during a men's gymnastics meet in the Sports Pavilion, damaging the mask, reported the Star Tribune.

The University student behind Goldy, who was not injured, reported the incident to security personnel, reported the Star Tribune.

Witnesses told the Minnesota Daily Goldy was "messing" with Dokken by tapping him on the shoulder and ruffling his hair.

Dokken, who received his doctorate from the University, told the Star Tribune that he deeply regrets the incident.

Northwestern class observed live sex toy demo

Students in a sexuality class at Northwestern University attended an optional demonstration Feb. 21 featuring a naked woman publicly penetrating herself with a sex toy, according to the Daily Northwestern.

Psychology Prof. John Michael Bailey invited the 622 students from his human sexuality class to the presentation, which included a question and answer period about fetishes, said MSNBC.

Bailey frequently holds educational panels, with guests ranging from swingers to convicted sexual predators, reported the Daily Northwestern.

The addendums do not appear on any exams, said the Daily Northwestern.

"Stick and stones may break your bones, but watching naked people on stage doing pleasurable things will never hurt you," Bailey told the crowd of more than 120 students, according to MSNBC.

'Teen mom' stars in nude photo scandal

Nude photos of 'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood were posted online Thursday, according to US Weekly.

The New York Daily News reported that Portwood, 20, said the five photos, which were taken a few weeks ago, were stolen from her phone and sold by a friend.

In three of the photos, Portwood's tattoo of her 2-year-old daughter Leah is visible, reported the New York Daily News.

In 2010, Portwood was charged with two counts of domestic battery, one count of neglect of a dependent and one misdemeanor charge of domestic battery from scenes captured by MTV's cameras, said to FOX News.

Portwood starred on MTV's "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom," which follow the lives of young mothers, reported CBS News.

After a Los Angeles school district angered a mother Thursday after they sent her 6-year-old son to the psychiatric ward without her consent, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Officials at Taper Avenue Elementary in San Pedro called a Los Angeles County psychiatric mobile response team when Jack Dorman drew a violent picture and wrote that he wanted to die, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Jack's mom, Syndi Dorman, told MSNBC that when she arrived to explain that her son had separation anxiety because his father was being deployed to Iraq and she would ensure that she he saw his therapist, school officials said it was out of her control.
MSNBC reported that Jack was committed to a 72-hour hold at a local hospital, but was released after 48 hours.

Dorman said her son is traumatized and doesn't want to return to school following the incident, according to MSNBC.

Butt-implant complications cause death of tourist

A tourist died Tuesday due to medical complications during a butt implant surgery in a Hampton Inn in southwest Philadelphia, according to the New York Daily News.

NBC Philadephia reported that Claudia Adusei, 20, travelled from England to undergo a silicone implants to enhance her buttocks Monday.

The Delaware County medical examiner New York Daily News that Adusei died of silicone injections to her vascular system.

NBC Philadelphia said that police executed a search warrant in the Hampton Inn on Bartram Avenue Tuesday afternoon with suspicions that two women were performing the procedures.
