Annual Student Exhibition: Call for Entries and Entry Form

We invite you to enter UMD Art & Design's 2011 Annual Student Exhibition. This year we have two excellent jurors, Chad Albers for Design and Theresa Downing for Studio, and the initial submission and jurying will be online February 28 - March 4 via digital entry form, photos, and movies. As always it's an excellent chance to show off your best graphic design and studio art work while competing for thousands of dollars in awards.

Open to all students who have had an art or design class Spring or Fall 2010, or Spring 2011, regardless of major.

Find the calendar, procedures, all the details and your entry form in the two pdfs below:

Get busy documenting your work! We're eager to see your submissions.

Note from Jim Klueg:

A&D majors and minors,

I just want to send my extra encouragement for you to submit your best work for this year's show. The show committee's worked really hard to make the process as easy (and inexpensive) as possible.

Big improvement: online application means you don't have to drop off and pick up declined work and no 2-D work has to be framed until you know you're accepted. Also, you'll all be able to vote the first week the show's up for a Student Choice Award.

As you may remember from my previous email, this April 25-26 our department will be reviewed by a team from NASAD, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. A significant part of how they'll rate us has to do with the quality of the work you do. We know you make some great stuff, but they won't unless you submit! It's especially huge to show up this time.

They'll also be an opportunity for you to meet with the team during their visit, and I'll send that out later. So send those files, shoot that work and let's make this year's show as good as we really are!
