Art&Design Annual Student Exhibition / Open Studios

SATURDAY April 27, 2013

1-5pm  Open Studio 2013

UMD's Department of Art & Design opens it's doors to the public to view student work and facilities from 1pm-5pm on Saturday April 27. The Open Studio event includes classroom tours, demonstrations, hands-on activities, live music, and showcases of graphic design and visual art. The open studios are located in Anderson Hall and Humanities Buildings at 1201 Ordean Court on the UMD campus. This is a great opportunity for future students, artists, and alumni to come see what's happening in Art & Design at UMD.

6-8pm Annual Student Exhibition Reception in Tweed Museum of Art

After touring the Art & Design Open Studios during the afternoon, please join us in the Tweed Museum for the Annual Student Exhibition Opening Reception from 6-8pm. Awards Ceremony at 6:30pm! The exhibition reception will feature live music and refreshments and is also free and open to the public.

Art & Design's Annual Student Exhibition features creative work across a range of media, including animation, ceramics, digital art, drawing, graphic design, interactive design, motion graphics, packaging design, painting, photography, printmaking, robotics, sculpture and video. The plurality of media and aesthetic approaches represented reflects the diversity of the department's students and faculty. This year's show was juried by Anne Dugan, Curator at the Duluth Art Institute, and Jenna Akre, a Minneapolis-based art director/designer and a 2005 UMD graduate. The exhibition runs April 9 - May 12, 2013 in the Tweed Museum of Art at University of Minnesota Duluth.
