Why is it that Bush supporters are so willing to ignore his earlier behavior? Poor grades, a spotty work history, drunk driving episodes, lots of preferential treatment by folks in high places. If we do locate illegitimate children, how will the faithful react?
Who will figure this out for us? Mainstream newspapers? Left-wing publications? Fellow bloggers? The FBI? The CIA, once headed by our subject's father? Why hasn't this come up before? Has it? I'm a librarian, and I haven't found much about it. If it's out there, how deep is it buried?
I learned quite a bit from Bill Clinton's impeachment. The big take-home message was that the sex life of the president is a very important matter, and that if you can use it to your political advantage, go right ahead. This is the message that the Republicans sent me, loud and clear.
I've never met George Bush, and I have no first-first-hand knowledge about his love life. Given his circumstances, though, I think it's reasonable to wonder if he doesn't have more children than he's letting on. Before he married Laura in 1977, he was rich, good looking, sometimes between jobs, never a workaholic, and he admits that he drank too much. And it's well documented (see research articles, below) that people who drink too much are much more likely to engage in unsafe sex than those who do not.
Certainly any woman who had a child that George Bush fathered has been generously compensated by the family, and is unlikely to come forward and tell her story. The children themselves may not be inclined to go public, either, as we learned from Strom Thurmond's daughter.
But there are people out there who know the stories - relatives, neighbors, friends. If you know anything about George Bush's additional children, I think it's your patriotic duty to come forward with your tale. We what to know who we are voting for.
