The Bump

Any other dogs like the bump? You know what I'm talking about ... when you take your head or snout and put it under your human's arm (especially when they are working on a computer) and then push up, bumping their arm up? It is so cool and works everytime for me. I usually start bumping around 3:30 because I'm getting ready for my afternoon walk and I like to start reminding her of it around 3:30 - in case she might forget about it (though she has never forgotten - probably b/c I bump her).

Humans don't seem to really like the bump, though. Joan usually has her hand on something called a mouse or she's typing and then my bump messes up whatever she's doing. Ha! That's the point: do what I want and I'll leave you in peace. She doesn't like it. And doesn't buy it. She tells me to "go lie down on your bed" and then I gotta go lie down for a while UNTIL I bump again. hee hee.

Ah... the oh so useful "bump." Or as I call it, the nudge. I suppose it's all the same, but I use it too. I use it when I want Mom to feed me, but also to get her to pet me. I either use that, or I just rest my chin on her knee and cuddle there until she scratches me behind the ears. If I want to go outside, I back up a few feet from her and whine until she gets the idea.

Oh, the German Shepherds at my house have mastered this move! Usually it is accompanied by a Kong, just in case I need the additional encouragement.

Dakota uses the bump, but only for food (that is what is important to her). I prefer insistent licking. It is especially funny when mom is holding a drink!

Deuce here. I do the chest bump. I get real close if Mom is on the couch, and shove my chest against her leg, then I immediately do a good SIT. And there I am all obedient looking, having just gotten her full attention.
The bump or nudge is used only when there is a full cup of coffee in her hand.

I agree with you about bumping when humans have something like coffee, tea, wine in their hands. Once I did that to my dogsitter, Roberta, and she was not happy. I made her shirt become a different color! She was mmmmaaaaddddddd!

I like to do the bump when my dog sitter starts drinking red wine. She isn't supposed to be drinking when looking after me so I like to remind her. It doesn't work as well with white wine though. Lucky for me she has a thing for red. Ha ha
