snoooooz

Well, Rachel, Lew and especially Will are tiring me out. I'm exhausted at the end of every night. I am on dog and squirrel patrol in the HUGE backyard everyday. There are lots of dogs with their humans who walk by our yard so I always have to go and check them out and let them know this is my yard and don't come over unless I like you (i.e., bark bark).

It has been 6 days and Joan has not returned yet.

I like the little boy, Will. I should tell Joan to get one. They are fun. But I would like it if he would stop following me around with that light. He has this portable light that he points at me all the time. He also tries to imitate me and he laughs at me when I sneeze or bark or whine or, well, really do anything. That's what I like about him the most!

3 days and no return

Joan is still gone. Has not returned. It's been 3 days and I'm counting this time.

But I just found out some bad news for me, at least. Joan is in a place called England and it is very far away. I don't think she'll be taking me to the dog park tomorrow. The good news is she misses me! Just read this!

Joan is gone ...

It all has been so weird. I can tell that things are not right with Joan. Despite having me around, her blood pressure, I'm sure is high. Probably all the cleaning of the house, constantly, and the strangers coming around.

On Thursday, I knew we were in for something. Joan moved my bed which recently has meant I am leaving with Joan to go somewhere for an hour or so. Sometimes it is a walk, sometimes it is to her work. This time though she put my bed in the car along with my food and other items and we drove to Rachel, Lew, and Will's house. I was very excited, wagging my tail, running around sniffing. Joan and Rachel talked while I paced around. I hadn't eaten my breakfast that day. Then Joan walked out the door and left me behind. I was whining at the door to remind her to take me with her but she drove away without me. Sadness. I paced around some more but kept hoping she'd return for me. When I tore myself away from the side door, I'd follow Rachel around. But I didn't feel like eating at all. :-(

Friday was a bit better. Rachel put egg in my food so I found it somewhat more palatable and irresistible so I ate it.

The news of the day is the jungle out in the backyard. First, I found a nest of small bunnies under the slide. You know, I'm not a fan of bunnies at all. They lurk around our yard (though they do leave yummy droppings) but still, it is my territory and I don't like to share it with others - especially squirrels and bunnies. So I started to push these bunnies around and a couple ran away, others were shreaking and wailing really loudly. Then Rachel started yelling which startled me - I never like it when humans yell - it worries me. Before I knew I was a by-stander standing in the porch while Rachel and Will rescued the animals and relocated them outside my new territory in the backyard!
The nest that smelled so good....

The bunny babies

They put them in a box and moved them.

When Rachel let me out of the porch, I ran over but no bunnies. The smell was still there so I sniffed a bit but the bunnies were gone. Oh well, I'll move onto other adventures. So then ... I found it.

A dead squirrel!

Rachel didn't like that either. She put me back in the porch and moved that too. This is a pretty interesting backyard if Rachel wouldn't keep putting me in the porch to take away the interesting wildlife. I mean, isn't it all about survival of the fittest?! I think I'm the fittest around this backyard but not if Rachel intervenes and gives them all another chance. Oh well. I think Joan might have done the same thing since the one time I actually got a squirrel in my mouth, she yelled like crazy until I dropped it.

One question remains: where o where is Joan? When will she come back? 2 days without her and counting...

Allergies and Adventure

My paw was my allergies acting up. Isn't that funny that my allergies make my paws and my butt itch? Ha ha. The thing is right after Joan put that sock on my foot, we went out to the car and she drove me to Bosco #2's house - the black lab I met last week. It was so weird because Joan also brought my bed with us. Hmmmm. Very tricky.

We went on a short walk and then we went into the house with Kim and Bosco and I was excited. 2 dogs is fun though I had to growl at Bosco #2 to keep him from overwhelming me with his fun. But then.... Joan left.

:(

But then it got better. I was a little tentative about being outside all alone so I'd go in and out a lot. Then Kim's daughter showed up and she was a thrill. I even (don't tell Joan) got to sleep on her bed at night!!!! I woke her up early with sloppy kisses. :::)))) hee hee. I even liked the man who came over and if you know me, you know that I don't usually like men on the first meeting!

Then one day, Eileen showed up and I was happy to see her, but where was Joan? Then Eileen took me home and left me there and still Joan was not there. She finally showed up many tortuous hours later. It was tortuous because our neighbors were throwing off firecrackers and I don't like firecrackers if you know what I mean. I mean, I really hate them. I gave Joan kisses galore etc.

Sock on Dog

My paw was kinda hurting me. Joan looked at it - I gave her my paw willingly. She put some goop on it that I really want to lick off but then she put a sock on my paw and a rubberband. This is what I looked like. No dog should have his fur covered up. She did it with that t-shirt when I had the big wound on my back a while ago.

I met Bosco today

You might think my subject to be kinda strange since I am Bosco. But yes, today I met another dog whose name is also Bosco. 2 Boscos. Joan first cleaned up the house like a crazy woman - she does this ALL the time - gets the loud vacuum out and puts my bed in the basement (where I never go).

Then we went to a place where Joan got some good smelling food and I had to sit on the ground while all these humans ate great smelling food. But it was better than sitting in the car (though I really do like the car).

Then we were off driving fast and I was wondering where we were going. Then we ended up at a place I've never been before and we went into the house and there was another dog and the nice woman kept saying something to "Bosco" and I thought she was talking to me but she was talking to the other dog whose name is also Bosco. Pretty crazy huh?

Bosco 2 doesn't look like me. First of all, he's a guy. Fine with me, I like guys better than girls. And he's black, not brown. Fine again black is great. And he's pretty hefty around the middle. That also doesn't bother me (probably bothers him more than it would me). We hung out for a while and Bosco 2 licked me a bit and I only slightly growled at him because he was barking at me to play. Then we all went on a walk and it was grand. There's a HUGE water hole right at the end of the street and I kept pulling to into it but Joan didn't let me. We got back to the house and Joan and I left but I get the sense we might be going back there again. Bosco 2's mom is Kim. She was pretty nice and said bye.

Down

Joan is constantly putting me into a "down" position. I have been fighting it (unless there is no leash and treats are involved). When we are out on a walk, boy do I protest not when says "sit" but when she says "down." I push my nose into her leg to rub my nose (I hate that gentle leader rope around my nose.) I whine. I yelp in protest. NOOO, I don't want to go "down" because then I'm submissive and have to relinquish all my superiority over Joan or anything/human/dog else. I think that is the whole idea behind it but I don't like it. Not one bit. Well, when there is a treat, maybe one treat bit.

What bugs me is how Joan thinks she is so smart to make me go into the "down" position and make me lay there while dogs go by or people or cars go by. Meanwhile, I want to jump up and bark at that dog or look at that car or sniff that person. Nope, she puts me right back into it. You gotta do what she says nowadays. One time a week ago, there was a dog coming our way and I didn't like his look one bit. Joan pulled me aside and tried to put me into a down position but man did I ever resist. I was barking my head off and jumping around. The man and his dog went to the other side of the street (no surprise, says Joan) but instead of just going on, Joan kept trying to get me into a down position. She wouldn't give up and let me win. ggggeeeezzzzzzz. Just let me win, like usual. No bones. I finally succumbed and laid into a down position. At this point, Joan was sweating but she seemed happier and made me lie there for a bit while these kids played ball nearby.

This week I've been much more cooperative. I'm just placating her. I might revert back to my old superior dog self any day. She shouldn't get too cocky about her training accomplishments. We all know that dogs rule.

Invaders

Joan doesn't know why I'm not eating but I know why. Because invaders are constantly coming into our house and yard without my knowledge, and then I return to find out because I can smell them instantly. And their smells linger. You know dogs can smell humans easily because humans drop bits of their skin as they walk, without even knowing it! Well, it freaks me out to smell all these people.

Rest assured I do eat but usually it is later at night and then I eat my breakfast and my dinner. Like now I just ate it all and my tummy is FULL.

This past week I got to go to Joan's work, the coffee shop (several times) - once Roberta met us there which was cooool, to Martha's house in St. Louis Park - got to see Boli, the cat, to a guy named Aaron's house - talk about a house to live in I'll say more in a minute, to the dog park, and to Chris (that is a girl)'s house - she has a hyper dog named Molly. WOW - what a week.

So on Saturday night, we went in the car for a while; enough that I got comfortable in the backseat. But then we slowed down and ended up at this house. I got out and Joan didn't even have me on a leash. I got to run around loose. Heaven. There was lots of tall grass to smell and pee on. Then a large german shepherd came my way. She was a bit scary to me and I kinda growled at her to leave me alone. But she wouldn't! She kept smelling my butt and running after me. I think she wanted to play but she was scary. I growled more and then we kind of got into a fight and there was yelping and she was biting my back (not hard) but I yelped anyway. Well, after that, she went over near her owners on a leash and I stayed velcro to Joan. It was a fun night because during it we went on a big trek through the tall grasses. I was all wet by the end because the grasses were wet and almost taller than I. The german shepherd (Reisa) was with us and later her owner let her off leash and we were okay then. The humans were pretty damn hysterical because they all fell down this muddy hill and ended up on top of each other. Reisa and I had no trouble going up and down the hill several times with no falling at all. Humans!!

Well, Joan and I returned very late (early?) home and I slept well and late. But then we had to leave again (those invaders came here). But I got to go to my park which was fantastic and swimming in the Mississippi. Oh, and we went to the store to get more food for me and the woman there gave me lots and lots of treats (Joan told her I wasn't eating my food and she just gave me more of them!) hee hee heee.

Then we went to the place where loud thunder happens all the time and picked up Joan's sister, Eileen. I was happy to say hi to her. But she said I was wet so not so great to pet. :-(

Then we went to Chris' house and walked some more and was with Molly, the springer spaniel. Molly tried to lick me a few times and I had to growl at her to tell her to tone it down. And she did! We hung out in the house a bit, too. And I made friends with the man there, Jim. He was cool and I licked him pretty quick so he's in my friends group now.

I wonder where we'll go next? Today Joan, thank goodness, was boring and on the computer so I got to sleep and catch up. I can't take all these days of being awake all the time. I need my beauty sleep.
