Loukia visited me, too

I need to catch up on telling you about all my visitors. Joan's friend, Loukia, visited us a few weeks ago. She lives in Nebraska and we've even been to her house == TWICE! She has a great dog named Cleo who is a Vizsla - very sleek and a little lighter brown and certainly skinnier than I am. Anyway, Cleo did not come with Loukia. I was home alone and the next thing I knew, this woman Loukia walked in the door. Well, I haven't seen her about a year and a half, so I was a little scared as you might imagine. So I hid behind the dining room table. Then she seemed to know what to do and got me some treats in the kitchen and she was talking to someone on the phone and then I made friends with her since she had some treats and was a girl, too. Later on Joan showed up and then we went downtown for a walk - that's where we took this picture:

Loukia even took me on an hour+ run - Joan doesn't run that long usually - so it was a nice treat. I showed Loukia the route we take along the river - she was worried and Joan even drew her a map (needless) - of course, I know the way. Although on the way back, Loukia ran right by our house so I just kept running with her (bonus run) but then she called Joan on the phone and turned around and then we went back to the house. I just thought she wanted to go on a longer run ... so I didn't let her know that she was running by the house!!

"Grandparents"

Now they would not like me calling them my grandparents but in any case, Tom and Judy came to visit about a month ago and I neglected to report about it. These are Joan's parents. They were fun to have around, especially Tom. He took me for some walks while Joan was at work or was shopping with her mom or wherever she was. I got to really like him and when he put his shoes on, I'd run over thinking he was going to take me on another walk. Judy is nice too - though she didn't like me licking her legs in the morning when she got up! She should know better than to show skin in the morning before I've taken a walk - I'm just trying to say hi, to have her pet me, and ultimately to be taken on a walk. She did go on a couple walks with Joan and me in the mornings.

Unfortunately those box on wheels got packed up and they left. Here they are ...

Food & Squirrels

Last night Joan forgot to feed me. Well, she did feed me a little bit but only gave me a bit because I think it was not dinner time. But since I had convinced her, through bumping and nudging, to take me for an early walk, when we got back it was not dinner time, but I still wanted dinner. So she gave me about 1/2 of my dinner. But then she FORGOT to give me the rest ... I kept trying to remind her, nudge her, lick her, look cute, rest my head on her lap, jump up on her lap, lay at her feet .... nothing reminded her and I went hungry but with some pets and outside time (she interpreted my moves all wrong!). It was not until this morning, when she finally remembered she didn't feed me all my dinner. Duh! So I got a big breakfast. And then we went on a run that included going off-leash at the dog park nearby ... that is one of my favorite running routes. I also like the one down by the creek where I can also go off-leash but also jump and play in the creek.

On another topic: SQUIRRELS. Well, it took those damn MN squirrels about 3 months to find me down here, but I think the residents of our old house have found us and moved into the trees here in Texas. Not all of them though. In MN, we had easily 10 squirrels at any one time in the backyard. Here there are only about 3-4, SO FAR. Maybe some perished on their trek down I-35. Today I have had to be outside all the time to police these creatures. They are really bugging me. I have to bark at them, run after them, jump up 6 feet into the trees to try to get them, bark again, jump up on the garage, run around in circles, bark, sit on the deck with a watchful eye, locate another one, crouch down and get tense, then run and bark, and jump. I think you get the idea.

Local dog park

I have been very remiss in my updates. Joan and I have been enjoying ourselves too much to allow me any time on the computer. Well, Joan also is doing lots of work so she is kinda monopolizing the computer.

In any case, we went to the adopted dog park around the corner. It is not an official dog park but it is a bunch of land the state owns and it is very pretty and the locals have adopted it. Joan says I'm "blossoming" here in that I'm learning how to play with other dog friends. I've always been pretty suspect of other dogs cuz I never had a lot of interaction with them when I was a puppy (I was in a basement for 2 years, pretty much, or was terrorized by kids and men). But on the last few visits, I've done my share of playing with the packs. It is actually pretty fun! I realize that they are only horsing around when they try to bite my neck and stuff - though I'm still a little shy of that and usually run over to my mom at that point.

Here are a bunch of pictures from our visit in a slideshow format.
