Hot Fuzz isn't released in the U.S. until this weekend, but I've seen it. That's right, I've seen Hot Fuzz! I flew all the way to London, England to see it...okay, I didn't go there just to see Hot Fuzz, but I certainly didn't miss the opportunity to see it while there. I can tell you, it was worth it, even if it did cost me $19 (tickets are 9.5 pounds, which is roughly $19).
If you liked Shaun of the Dead, you'll like Hot Fuzz. It's not a romantic comedy/zombie movie. Well, it may be a romantic comedy if you think that buddy movies are about suppressed homosexual desire. Some might read them as such.
Like Shaun of the Dead, it gets a little slow in the middle part, but the editing is top notch in this film. My favorite part was when he would finish the day and put his uniform, etc. away in the locker. It's just a bunch of quick cuts of him and the locker, but it captures perfectly his fastidiousness. There isn't as much blood and gore, but it's not really necessary. Thankfully, they didn't just throw it in for color. Plus, I just love the fact that they pay homage to Point Break and He-Man. Who knew that He-Man made it to the U.K.?
