Le Nez/ The Nose / Нос (1963) is a brilliant pinscreen animated film. Based on the short story by the great Russian author Nikolai Gogol (1809-1852). Le Nez is probably one of the best adaption of a Gogol story in the history of cinema. This film was made completely using shadows from a pinscreen. Alexeieff is most famous for his invention of the pinscreen which he used to make about 6 short films.
"The Nose" is a satirical short story by Nikolai Gogol. Written between 1835 and 1836, it tells of a St. Petersburg official whose nose leaves his face and develops a life of its own.
