Visual Culture Controversy Dialog
at Noon on Monday December 17
in AB Anderson Hall Room 345

Department of Art + Design faculty and students are invited to dialog
about artists and their complex relationship to visual culture in an open
society. This dialog will be facilitated by David Hodges from the
Duluth Art Institute. The desire is to keep the conversation
productive and positive. Diverse viewpoints are welcome.
Recent incidents that have opened this discussion include
controversies surrounding the Art Guild showcase and the exhibition of
Neal Peterson's installation in the Tweed. We hope to set aside the
specifics of these two controversies and to focus the discussion on
what we can do when art generates passionate and surprising responses
from an audience.
