1 > Rock+Roll+Design Create a coordinated graphics package for a music group cd release or tour. Work with a local band, an imaginary band, or an imagined release for a band you love. The project should include a strong identity for the group and a unified visual approach applied to multiple formats. Show how you would apply your design strategy to various marketing elements : cd packaging, concert poster, ticket, tshirt, web graphics, stage graphics, etc. Start by researching the best music graphics of the past and present. Brainstorm new formats that your music market might use. Develop typographic, image and color treatments that you will use throughout the project. Create a strategy document and pitch your project to the class in a presentation for your final exam. Generate at least 2 of the formats in finished form at high quality.

I am doing the dream project. I am illustrating my second children's story and therefor I am doing the cover to the story as my project. It was ten years ago when I first discovered the illustrator Dave Mckean. He has illustrated several book cover and children stories by Neil Gaiman: "The Day I swapped My Dad For Two Goldfish" and "Wolves In The Walls" to name a couple.
He uses collage combing line drawings, photography and painting to create these vibrant, interesting compositions. The web page for Mckean is not the greatest in my opinion but it does link to some really cool imagery. Lori Buoen

I am creating a dream product about an excuse maker. It reads the situation your in at the moment and comes up with the best excuse on the spot to get you out of your altercation. Im thinking about doing a magazine ad, billboard ad, and more than likely a mock up of the product.

I am choosing the rock n' roll project. I have chosen to create my own cool jazz artist named "Big Daddy D". He's a cool dude with a voice like butter on a hot knife. He's the new face to cool jazz revival. He encourages personality, individuality, creativity and the overall sense of coolness. He is the embodiment of cool, or so his design seems to portray him. However, imagery of Big Daddy D will purely be illustrative. He will not be portrayed as a real person. However Big Daddy D is actually a 29 year old Chicago native. He would like to remain incognito to mainstream media. I will create an album cover, a small poster, a myspace layout page, and a button for Big Daddy D's tour; cool.
Sweet huh?!?
My inspiration was a number of sources on the nets and a couple books i viewed.

For the final project I will be doing the rock and roll option.I am making up a hip hop band. I plan on making a album cover a a poster to promote it. I may mock a website up where the band would blog. The name as of now is Monkey Business. The bands sounds would be similar to heiruspecs but not the same.

I'm creating a nail polish brand for men. My main focus is on the logo and the name of the polish. The theme that my produce will be based on is football. It's name will be football related. I came up with the idea after reading an article about how women sometimes buy nail polish for their names and not for the color.

Our final project was for the homeless in St. Louis County scholarship contest. We decided to use black and white photography in order to relay our message effectively, as well as handwritten text on a piece of cardboard to give a more personal feel to our poster and billboard.
