I liked the mix of close up shots (when the horse dad opens up the door and his head is cut off; when horse dad is playing the guitar) and the longer shots (when the car is driving up in the opening scene; when the horse dad is playing the guitar and Michael Cera is watching from afar). I think again, this role is a good fit for Michael Cera and his awkward acting- and I also liked the voice of John Cleese.

I think this short movie was really interesting because of the form that the many of the shot where presented to us.
When the dad open the door, we expected to see his face, but we did it which it make us wonder about it. later on the movie it just becomes more interesting because the use of the camera is really different from what we are use to see.

I really enjoyed the short film Darling Darling. Michael Cera played his character fantastically, he really displayed the awkwardness to the audience well. The camera work was also interesting. The director included numerous shots, including some of the ones you have posted on the blog. There was the establishing shot at the beginning of the film and also many medium shots of Cera and the horse-headed father. I found it funny that the dad had a horse head and his wife and daughter were both regular human beings. The short film was comical and like I said before, I really enjoyed and would recommend it to anyone.

I just loved this film, and I also think the camera angles and the dragging pace really helped make it work. When the dad opened the door, I thought he'd be just some bearded old guy, and when it went back to Michael Cera, I wondered why he had such an awkward facial expression. They also show that the dad has a horse for his head at just the right time, and after that the dad just keeps getting more strange. It's like the first date from hell or something. It did drag on almost too much when the dad was playing guitar, but I think the point was to make the audience feel as uncomfortable as Cera did. They did well with this, because I think at that point everyone was wondering if it was ever going to end. And what's up with guy running through the window?

At first i thought this short was just way to wacky but soon enough it was pretty hilarious, and like always michael Cera was the most awkward person around.

I liked how to me it didn't really have a real purpose. throughout the whole thing I was thinking, "wtf?" I thought it was funny, but alo weird at the same time.

I personally dislike Cera, but I thought it was funny he could make fun of his generic role as high school nerd. I thought Cleese's narration was a little generic, but I love his voice so that's alright.

I think I noticed that the camera might be shot in digital. That being, it is shot in HD format instead of the traditional 35mm film. This is a poster mark of director Michael Mann (Public Enemies, Collateral). It makes it look a bit more real but in my opinion it looks more like a home movie instead of a film. Nevertheless, I feel capturing on a digital medium is the future as 35 mm film can be quite expensive and a bit archaic compared to today's technology.

I like the absurdity of what is going on in the playout of the film, combined with the awkward acting that Michael Cera is known for. It allowed the audience to feel as uncomfortable as someone who is forced to sweat out some time with the eccentric parents of his first date.

The film was interesting in terms of theme. The way that the director uses sustained shots, awkward acting on the part of Michael Cera, and dysfunctional dialogue in order to create a feeling of tension that teens feel when they are about to embark on a first date.
The way that the shots are edited (by length and order) also help to create a sense of awkward tension. For instance, when the horsehead father is wildly shredding on guitar, the shot keeps cutting back and forth to Cera, who is frozen with discomfort. This sequence shows how the difference in feeling and emotion is creating tension between the boy and this girl's eccentric father

I thought this short was pretty hilarious. It's like a surrealist perspective on a first date, almost in the same vain as Monty Python. Which makes sense because John Cleese is one of the original members, not to mention my favorite. I also like that you could make any number of versions of this with varying lines of the horse man.

I liked the film but for me I feel that if it wasn't for John Cleese's voice over I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. I appreciate it's use of close-ups, for instance not letting us see that the father is in fact half horse. It really captured awkward well, and with Michael Cera it's not difficult to make awkward happen he's great at it! (that's a compliment)
The scene I really enjoyed though was the kitchen scene with the over-powering wind. It made me laugh and wonder how difficult it would be to film, making sure everything flew when and where it was supposed to.

I found the timing of this short to be one of the most interesting aspects. The instances that are catalysts in the movie all happen fairly quickly and the repercussions take an excruciatingly long time to evolve. This short seems to be written for Cera. I wonder how other Actors would handle this role.

I enjoyed this film I thought that it gave a great vibe of the awkwardness of that first date feel. I also loved how bizarre the father was giving a comedic story. Overall it was a well done short film, but could have been a couple minutes shorter.

This was an interesting short film. I thought that it captured a lot of awkward emotions. I think that at the beginning the choice of not including the father's head was a nice way to have a sense of mystery and curiosity. I found myself even after they showed his head wondering why he had a horse head. I feel like it maximized the awkward conversation of this kind of situation, having to talk with your date's father before they are ready.
