So...Great News...We are going to be getting Moviestorm software for use by Art&Design students at UMD. We won educational licenses... that will be installed in the Digital Arts classroom, the Multimedia Hub, Montague Lab and VizLab.The Moviestorm software will
be good for students interested in 3d animation, digital storytelling, pre-visualization,
game design, filmmaking, and machinima.

Here's a 1980s use of storyboarding / animatic in a music video...
"Take on Me" (1984) is a song by Norwegian pop band a-ha. The music video on MTV was directed by Steve Barron. The video features the band in a pencil-sketch animation and live-action combination created using the technique of rotoscoping.

About Animatics
An animatic usually consists of pictures of the storyboard synchronized with the soundtrack. This allows the animators and directors to work out any script and timing issues that may exist with the current storyboard.
