KinhDo Restaurant

2755 Hennepin Avenue
Minneapolis, MN 55408

i was in the mood for some pho, and KinhDo came through with a $7 bowl of mediocrity. i ordered chicken in the pho, but maybe the beef would have added more flavor. the spring roll appetizers for $4 were a little bit better, since the noodles weren't as overcooked. A had the curry mock duck, to compare KinhDo's version with that of Rainbow Chinese Restaurant on Eat Street (review forthcoming). i think he ended up prefering Rainbow's slightly more colorful (metaphorically speaking, of course) dish, as did i. although the prices were reasonable for a valentine's day dinner in uptown, the service was incredibly slow and the food was so-so. since KinhDo is so nearby, i want to try to like it-- so maybe i'll give it another chance sometime when it's not valentine's day.

interesting menu item: they just started serving flan-- didn't taste it, though
why you should go: their enormous menu will satisfy any vietnamese, thai, or chinese craving
good for what occasion: nice but not too nice dinner out
turn a blind eye to: reliably mediocre taste
ambiance: tastefully simple
