Kentucky names Texas A&M's Gillispie New Head Coach

Billy Gillispie was introduced as the new head basketball coach at the University of Kentucky on Friday, replacing former head coach Tubby Smith who is now at Minnesota. ESPN.com is reporting Gillispie and Kentucky agreed to a seven-year deal worth $2.3 million per year salary.

According to The Associated Press, Kentucky was considering several different candidates for the job but Gillispie was the only candidate formally offered the position.

The Kentucky Kernel is reporting Kentucky decided to pursue Gillispie after Billy Donovan decided to stay at Florida.
