Karachi blast kills at least 45

An explosion tore through a crowd of Shiites in Karachi, Pakistan on Sunday, killing at least 45 people, according to the New York Times.

The blast came from what police said was a car bomb, and the explosion had wounded at least 149 people after the fire spread to nearby homes and shops, news sources reported.

The blast hit Shiite worshipers as they offered Maghribain prayers at an Imambargah in Abbas Town, the International News said. The most suspected group for the crime is the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Sunni militant group, though no suspicions have been confirmed, news sources reported.
