August 21, 2008 - Diane Wiese-Bjornstal, associate professor in Kinesiology, was elected to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Science Advisory Board for 2009-2012. The board's activities include review and input on the long-standing President's Challenge program as well as many other initiatives related to physical activity and health across the lifespan. The board includes ten scholars who are selected because of their significant contributions to the research and science of physical activity, fitness, health, and sports.
August 20, 2008 - Professor Don Dengel, has recently published an article in Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology with three of his former graduate students: Andrea Thelen (M.A., 2006), Aaron Kelly (Ph.D., 2004) and Eric Williamson (M.Ed., 2002). August 18, 2008 - Beth Lewis, assistant professor of kinesiology, appears on WCCO-TV's Good Question: Do Treadmill Calorie Counts Work? Dr. Lewis was interviewed yesterday by WCCO's Jason DeRusha on the topic of how many calories are used when exercising on a treadmill or elliptical machine.

August 9, 2008 - Exercise physiologist Don Dengel, professor in the School of Kinesiology, is quoted in an August 9 New York Times article covering Olympic boxing, "Boxer Collapses While Trying to Make Weight." Dengel talks about the dangers of fluid loss as a measure for rapidly losing weight.
