The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), a NCAA Division III conference headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, is accepting applications for the UMAC Assistant Commissioner position. This is a 10-month (August-June) full-time internship covering two academic years including 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. The internship is primarily funded through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority & Women's Internship Grant program. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position Title: UMAC Assistant Commissioner
Duties include: Compliance, Championships, Public Relations, Marketing, Sports Information, Officiating Development, Conference SAAC, and Fiscal Management
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field (sports management, sports administration, public relations, marketing, communications, etc.) with strong interpersonal and written communication skills as well as a career goal in athletics administration. Applicant must have work experience in athletics. Familiarity and/or experience in website management and desktop publishing software (InDesign) preferred.
Stipend: Salary includes a base stipend of $20,100 annually through NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority & Women's Internship Grant program plus $7,500 in-kind annual stipend from conference and additional $3,000 for professional development each year.
Start Date: August 2, 2010 (flexible)
