UMN Medical School admissions

There is a change in the medical school application process.

The University of Minnesota Medical School has two campuses: Minneapolis and Duluth. The Medical School is based in Minneapolis where students may explore specialties and subspecialties, engage in research, and pursue a joint degree. The Duluth program has a unique mission to train family medicine physicians for rural Minnesota and Native American communities. Beginning with the 2009-2010 application cycle the two campuses will use a single AMCAS school code. Each campus will continue to have its own separate supplemental application process.

Applicants to the University of Minnesota Medical School will apply using the following steps:

  • Applicants will designate the University of Minnesota Medical School on their AMCAS application.

  • The applicants will receive an e-mail with a link to a site where they will indicate whether they are interested in the Duluth program, the Minneapolis program, or both.

  • The applicants will subsequently be directed to the supplemental application for one or both programs, depending on the initial selection.

  • From this point, the application process will continue as it has in the past for each campus.
  • If you have questions, please feel free to contact the Admissions Office at either the Twin Cities or Duluth campus.
