A farmer friend told me last night that the press for sourcing corn ethanol is pushing the cost of conventional pig production close to the cost of organic production. The rush to biofuel is going to have a huge, skewing effect on the agricultural landscape in the near term future. This is both challenge and opportunity for community based food systems. What do we have to offer those who are struggling to provide food for their families?
