"I hate pudding and I don't use... toilet paper."

I've been messing around with this new put-together computer that I've neglected my blogging/movie watching. I'm sure you'll all survive. On the upside (I think), we have another Star Trek entry almost ready to go.

In the meantime, you'll have to content yourselves with this week's new discs:

Adventureland (2008) Also on BD.

Duplicity (2009) Also on BD.

Fighting (2008).

The Informers (2008) Also on BD.

Lie to Me: Season 1 Also on BD.

Scrubs: Season 8

Sunshine Cleaning (2008) Also on BD.

Thirtysomething: Season 1

"Woo! All right! We're being invaded!"

It's another busy week here as we prepare for the impending start-of-classes-doom here at the U. We haven't been watching much of anything at home other than Top Chef Masters and the first season of Big Bang Theory (amusing, if pretty conventional so far).

A few weeks ago I picked up the BD of 2001 on the cheap and I have to say it is a serious upgrade over the old DVD I have. The image is sharper, has better color, and isn't overly processed to make it look like video (a trend on older movies I really hate). There are a lot of bonuses as well. For me, it was well worth the money (it costing $10 helps).

Let's check out what was released this week.

The Beast: Season 1

Dexter: Season 3 Also on BD.

Dirty Sexy Money: Season 2

Eli Stone: Season 2

The Golden Boys (2007)

Gossip Girl: Season 2

Greek: Chapter 3

Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009) Also on BD. There ya go, Chris!

Husbands (1970)

Icons of Sci-Fi: Toho Collection

The Last House on the Left (2009) Also on BD.

The Last Starfighter 25th Anniversary Also on BD.

Pete's Dragon: High-Flying Edition (1977) Hmm, did Cheech and Chong do a commentary on this one?

Playtime (1967) Criterion issues a BD of the Tati film.

The Simpsons: Season 12

Sons of Anarchy: Season 1

Surveillance (2007)

Tyson (2008) Also on BD.

"Why does everything I do sound like a leprechaun?"

Sorry for the late entry, kids. It's been a busy week and heck, there wasn't much out anyhow...

So, check out this week's meager offerings here.

(I'll try and make up for it next week!)

"There is only one kind of dance: the Robot."

Nothing much to report this week. The only thing of substance we watched recently was Ferris Bueller's Day Off on plain old DVD. This remains, IMHO, one the quintessential 80's movies and a personal favorite. I doubt it would gain much on BD so I'm good here.

Here we are with this week's new stuff:

Actors and Sin (1952).

The Chaos Experiment (2009)

Cravings (2009)

Flight of the Conchords: Season 2

Labor Pains (2009) Also on BD.

The Love Boat: Season 2: Vol. 2

The Mutant Chronicles (2008) Also on BD.

The Mysteries of Pittsburgh (2008) Also on BD.

Obsessed (2009) Cousin Beyonce'! Also on BD.

Project Runway: Season 5

Race to Witch Mountain (2009) Also on BD.

The Soloist (2008) Also on BD.

Ulysses (1954) DVD Savant reviews this one here. A choice quote: "The narrative simplifies Homer's tale to a level of complexity comparable to a book for a fifth grader."
