week 1 assignment
1. What is Interactive design?
Interactive design to a designer is interacting with software or a program in the means necessary to create a solution, for example to show movement with in a piece of animation, making a ball move or a cat jump. From a business standpoint interactive design is graphic art and graphic solutions relating to illustration, it combines commercial artwork, multimedia, visual effects, image editing web, and desktop work.
2. What do you want to learn in the course?
So far I’ve done a lot of design work in Photoshop, illustrator, in design, ect… but I don’t understand how to create something that can be beneficial when I need to have clients interact with design, or creating something that can be interacted with. Websites and Flash are two things that I would like to learn how to do, or as you said flash is possibly on it’s way out within the next 5 years, so something comparable that us as designers should start to experiment with so we don’t get left behind.
3. What applications / programming languages do you know or want to learn?
In 2-D digital last year I was exposed to dream weaver and html for the first time, it went fast so I didn’t understand it the greatest. Other than that I don’t have much exposure for html, so I guess that seems to be most important for me, never worked with css so that would also be helpful. And of course Flash 8 is always on the agenda. I learned some in motion graphics last semester but that’s the only time I’ve ever worked with it.
