This is a complicated matter for me, this is a great resource for the graphic design/advertising field for us but I know that Duluth as well as the twin cities want to regulate the digital billboards, Minneapolis wants billboards to change once every hour, now I don't know what Duluth nessicarly wants for their regulations but I know that the one on central entrance switches periodically and it's distracting, yes it grabs attention and that's what billboards are suppose to do the one thing that I can find wrong about that particular billboard is that it's very bright so home owners around it will have bright lights shining at there house all night, like that annoying guy who lives across the street who leaves his TV on all night and the screen changes all the time so the lights broadcasted into your room changes every 5 seconds, like that but 100 times brighter. It also looks like the advertisers are expensive brands to the markets aren't exactly the best. But that's this one billboard, if there’s billboards around the cities like St. Paul Minneapolis there’s no reason why that should be a factor. And yes there should be a time limit as to how many times a billboard changes adds but it should NOT be once an hour maybe once every 20 or 30 seconds seems reasonable. This past week I drove from Duluth to Orlando and saw actually a lot of moving billboards, some were the LCD screens and some were the ones that would display 3 or 4 adds and would just roll over, honestly if it's far enough out where you could look on the horizon to see it I didn't see why anyone could cause an accident from looking at the billboards. NO one is dumb enough to stop on the highway to watch a billboard change or to slow down to like 20 mph. in less you live in Georgia, that's a stupid state I guess I would regulate there.

When I think on a good web font the one that comes to mind for me is Geneva. I guess I think that there is space in between the individual characters that allows the readers eyes to flow through the reading a little easier and not look so overwhelming. Serif fonts on a web entry is going to just put more stress on the readers eyes and isn't necessary when a san serif font can be used to get the same emphasis across. Geneva is a smooth and simple to read font.

I tried target, abrocrombie, sears, and pennies. But i thought ATM's are kiaosks to right? so i with drew some money. Like you said in class tony target kinda has the best one out there right now, i didn't really find anything other than at abrocrombie, and that sucked i don't know if it really even counts it was ran by keyboard and it was not really operational at the time. But something simple really is the way to go, it causes less confusion and gets the point across right away on what can be acheived. pictures, illistrations and large buttons are eye catchers.

Over the weekend I ended up playing the world of Warcraft “burning crusade. I don’t play many computer games but I figured this was a good opportunity for try out Warcraft and see what the hype was all about for the new game. I guess the first thing I noticed was the animation and graphics; there amazing, the coloration and detail really caught my eye.

The games menus seemed easy to access and the interesting thing that I found was the in-game help system which is really nice if you’ve never played before or are just a beginner at the game. You then either pick a horde or and alliance and go from there level to level. The game is challenging I spent 45 minutes playing and it only felt like 15. It’s kind of addicting. After playing the game I thought the overall navigation of the game was fairly easy I didn’t find it to hard to maneuver through the menus. The graphics weren’t choppy and flowed well for how detailed the graphics were. The thing that I guess I found the hardest about the game was the key commands there’s so many and it’s hard to remember them all right away when I started playing. I guess if I had a controller it would have been easier.

1. What is Interactive design?

Interactive design to a designer is interacting with software or a program in the means necessary to create a solution, for example to show movement with in a piece of animation, making a ball move or a cat jump. From a business standpoint interactive design is graphic art and graphic solutions relating to illustration, it combines commercial artwork, multimedia, visual effects, image editing web, and desktop work.

2. What do you want to learn in the course?

So far I’ve done a lot of design work in Photoshop, illustrator, in design, ect… but I don’t understand how to create something that can be beneficial when I need to have clients interact with design, or creating something that can be interacted with. Websites and Flash are two things that I would like to learn how to do, or as you said flash is possibly on it’s way out within the next 5 years, so something comparable that us as designers should start to experiment with so we don’t get left behind.

3. What applications / programming languages do you know or want to learn?

In 2-D digital last year I was exposed to dream weaver and html for the first time, it went fast so I didn’t understand it the greatest. Other than that I don’t have much exposure for html, so I guess that seems to be most important for me, never worked with css so that would also be helpful. And of course Flash 8 is always on the agenda. I learned some in motion graphics last semester but that’s the only time I’ve ever worked with it.
