Man dies in downtown Minneapolis hotel

A 33-year-old man was shot and killed on Saturday in the Millennium Hotel in the first Minneapolis homicide of 2012.

Minneapolis man Jeremy Robert Shannon died due to numerous gunshot wounds, a Hennepin County medical examiner told the Star Tribune.

Shannon was shot around 2:30 A.M. in Room 911 of the hotel at 1313 Nicollet Mall. He and the suspect were in a room that had been booked by a group of people.

Witnesses told police that a suspect had fled across the street. The 33-year-old man was arrested in front of the Hyatt Hotel on a charge of cause for murder.

The suspect and victim probably knew each other, police told Kare 11.
