My view on a abortion
abortion is one of the most argued topic in america today. But I dont understand why. It says in our constitution that we have the freedom of speech. And by that it means that you should have the right to choose. Our whole country is based on this freedom and i dont understand why they wish to destroy it. No person should be told that they have to have a baby. Anotther big reason is that i fell this way is because; abortions are always going to take place no mater if they are legal or not. So do what them to be safe or unsafe.
WOW, first of all I would like to say that you are very brave for posting anything related to this topic. Well, I can understand why you feel that abortions should be legal in the sense that they will happen no matter what and if they are legal they will be safer. The other side to making abortion legal is having women as well as men use it as a form of birth control. I say both women and men because lets face it, it takes two people to create a child and I certainly don't want men to walk around saying things such as, "if I get you pregnant I'll pay for an abortion," and trust me this does happen. Also, people like myself who have a firm faith believe that having an abortion is the same as murder. Having had this conversation will many people, usually their next comment is, "well, what if a women is raped and as a result ends up pregnant?" My responds to this is, yes there are certain circumstances when having an abortion would seem logical, but the fact is making it legal will give the false sense that having an abortion is a loose form of birth control. I respect your views on this issue even though I hold different ones, but again I commend you for bringing up such a controversial issue.
Posted by: Katie at September 27, 2004 10:46 AMOne quick question to consider for all you pro-abortion people: If your mother had aborted YOU before you were born, would you still support abortion?
Posted by: Joel Gardner at September 27, 2004 09:23 PMwe're not pro-abortion, we're pro-choice. there is a difference. Pro-abortion states that we're all for abortions, pro-choice means that we support the woman's right to chose. If your dad wore a condom on the night you would have been concieved, chances are you wouldn't be here, so does that make you anti-condoms?
Posted by: Tom Weaver at September 27, 2004 10:00 PMI am pro-choice, even though I would never have an abortion myself unless it was in extreme circumstances. Radical people that are pro-life that want to make an abortion illegal to all, are basically just imposing their personal beliefs on others. In this country abortion is safe and legal, so where is it's someone's place to tell another person that they cannot have an abortion? It would be like someone trying to convert another person to their own religion or somthing. The Idea that everyone should think the same way and believe in the same things. I have a personal bias on this topic however, because my best friend was raped by a man she did not know and became pregnant with his child. I went to the doctors appointments with her myself. It was a horrible experience. I would never impose my beliefs of pro-choice on another however.
Posted by: Jenny at September 28, 2004 11:42 AMPro- abortion? What? Sometimes people can be so ignorant! I don't believe that anyone is "pro-abortion". The correct term is "pro-choice", which is very different. I am pro-choice but definately not pro-abortion. I believe that women have the right to choose whether they want to have a child or not. Whether abortion is legal or not, it will still happen. The only difference will be who's lives are lost- the aborted fetus' or the mother who died trying to abort her baby with a coat hanger because abortion is illegal. And another thing...
The majority of women who have gotten an abortion do not use it as a form of birth control. It is an expensive and painful (physically and emotionally) process that most women don't tend to repeat over and over again. Of course, I can't speak for all women. That's my 2 cents anyways...
I am pro-choice and I believe that as a society we need to make the people who are already living on this earth a priority. If a woman choses not to have a child, she is the priority over an unborn child.
I believe that unfortunately some people probably do use abortion as a form of birth control because of their irresponsibility. However, must we punish everyone who is a victim of rape or incest or a woman who will die if she does not abort her fetus because of a few who are irresponsible?
OK OK excuse me! For all you "pro choice" people. Consider that question.
And as a matter of fact I AM anti-condom, or rather anti-premarital sex. If people didn't do that we wouldn't have to worry about abortions.

people who are married have sex. and just because they are married doesnt mean that they want children. so if you are anti- condom, do you think that everyone should have children?
I guess I would consider myself a moderate conservative. I am really not sure where to place myself, on either the pro-choice side or the pro-life. I believe that that making abortion legal would make it possible for everyone to do it whenever they want and make it just another form of birth control. I do not want to see things turn that direction. People would no longer have to be responsible about having sex, since there would be no risk of ending up pregnant and having a child. I really feel that this is like murder; it just feels wrong to me. But I do not believe that people should be forced to have a child if they were raped, if the pregnancy is going to be life threatening either to the mother, child or both, or they are not capable of supporting a child. I understand the arguments from both sides. I really think that some middle ground could be reached on the subject.
Posted by: Nichole at September 29, 2004 12:47 PMWhy is having sex such a controversial issue? Just because we are intellegent makes us so different from other animals? Reproduction is an instinctive drive in all living things. Why not give in to it? Getting pregnant is a product, however, we live in a world exploding with new technology. Why not use it? Contraceptives are wonderful things. Tradition is overrated, lets move on.
Posted by: ocon0274 at October 3, 2004 01:40 PMGee, I wonder. Hmm... let's see, ever hear of STDS??? Ruined relationships? Unplanned pregnancies? Apparently not, if so then you're in for a rude awakening in the future. Tradition is not overrated it is underrated for how important it is.

I am pro-choice. I feel that it is the woman's decision to proceed with the birth of a child. Mistakes happen and if a woman is impregnanted by mistake should be allowed to correct that mistake. Choice leaves the woman to decide what she wants her body to go through for the actual abortion. Why should any woman be forced to have a baby?!
Posted by: Acuna at December 13, 2004 01:32 PMany of you who support abortion i am sorry for because abortion is murder no excuses it a horrible disgusting way to get rid of a human if you decide to hav a baby dont be a chicken and take the easy way out and KILL IT! gosh i strongly anyone in this world who is for abortion
